Counselling & Psychotherapy
Foundation Certificate
Start date January 2027
Duration 1 year
Model Hybrid
Overview
The Good Mental Health Company’s Foundation Programme Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy offers an immersive, experiential introduction to therapeutic practice, grounded in relational, transpersonal, psychodynamic, and humanistic philosophy.
The training is rooted in the understanding that counselling and psychotherapy are not learned through theory alone, but through lived encounter — with oneself, with others, and within the therapeutic relationship itself.
With the client always held in mind, the programme places emotional presence, ethical responsibility, self-awareness, and relational depth at the centre of learning. Students are supported to develop not only counselling skills, but the capacity to think, feel, reflect, and remain meaningfully engaged with the complexity of human experience.Learning Outcomes
Who is this for?
The programme is suitable for those intending to pursue professional counselling or psychotherapy training, practitioners in helping professions wishing to deepen relational and listening capacities, and individuals seeking substantial personal development within a contained and thoughtful learning environment.
— A different approach —
What are often described as “basic skills” in counselling and psychotherapy are, in reality, highly sophisticated relational capacities that take time, depth, and self-awareness to develop.
Many traditional trainings follow a linear model: theory is taught, students apply it, and over time they become therapists.
Our approach differs. The therapist is the primary instrument of the work, and the transformation of the Self is central, drawing on a Jungian understanding of psychological development. Theory emerges as a language for lived experience, rather than something applied to it. Relationship remains at the heart of the work
